Caravan of Dawn
I am a big believer in the importance of what you listen to. I work to be active throughout the day in putting in messages of peace, joy and positive possibility. I discipline myself to only look at news about once a week. Just like you I am drawn to the news, and can get stuck on how disturbing it is. It is like watching a car accident unfold, knowing that it has implications for you.
However, it my perception that I matter, that you matter, that each of us matters a great deal. Your baseline emotional state affects the whole. Enough negative people can create a negative critical mass, an infected and infecting state that can spread like wildfire. It shrouds the world in darkness. We have too many people on the job thinking that we are going to hell in a hand-basket. We need those of us who have the strength to see everything, but choose to radiate the most important human value of kindness, and the connection to a more positive vibration. In this, we are able to access light. Just as light is more powerful than darkness, a critical mass of positive people can banish the human shadow.
As Bob Marley said “There’s a natural mystic blowing through the air. If you listen carefully now you will hear.” It is true. There is something powerful going on and it is big enough, it does not need to hide from ugliness. We connect with it by being intently, non-judgmentally in pure awareness, in this moment. We find it by fire-walling negativity and connecting with messages that remind us that there is something good and fine within us.
Listening to the great mystic musicians of the world, like Bob Marley, Cat Stevens, George Harrison, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. People like Sam Cooke and Curtis Mayfield. The rhythm and flow of the music and lyrics help the messages go into our deep consciousness, which helps to create a general sense of well being and possibility.
Another group that has been an enormous long term influence for me, are The Levins. Their music has been part of the soundtrack of my life, and helps me keep my vision focused on the light. They are amazing in their ability to create beautiful music that also helps me to access the positive vibration.
