Day 26 -Consistency Is Key
The key is consistency. Day after day each morning we can step to the intent of turning toward our deepest values and standards. Each day, just after we open our eyes we will have a choice. In a world where kindness and compassion are at risk we can commit ourselves to really listening . In a world where joy seems like a fantasy, we can stand for hope. Where It seems like we are in peril we can recognize positive indifference, and that no matter what happens we are the right people at the right time.
We were born for this. Consistency is key.
There are native tribes where if you were given a mission of great challenge it was seen as an honor. We have each been brought to this place. I have trained myself to be resiliently positive and focused on what is good in us. Each morning we can choose the better of two witnesses and touch the edge of what that means for us that day. The most difficult part is making the choice, but when we truly choose life the universe will line up to support us.
Both The Buddha and Jesus Christ have both been quoted making a similar statement. “You too can do as I have done.” What could this mean? Perhaps it relates to the ability to see the world and those who inhabit it with us as they really are. It would be easy to see many of our fellow human beings as the other. However perhaps we are to learn that we are all part of each other and to smite those around us is simply a way to destroy ourselves.
The mission is to realize that you and every living being on this planet are part of one whole. We may be lost, we may be sick, but even the sickest of us are a product of our environment. We need to set limits on those that we feel are taking part in evil acts, and at the same time have the compassion to realize that if we were subject to their experience we would be acting as they act.
We cannot live in anger without damaging ourselves. Everyday we must remind ourselves that things are not what they appear to be. In order to be part of the healing of the world we have to heal ourselves. Consistency is key.
