Day 23 - There's No Place Like Home

I have always enjoyed fantasy stories. Usually they consist of a person who is one of the lowest of their community, powerless in an overwhelming situation. Sound familiar? Faced with overwhelming odds the lead character must go on a journey to find themselves and their power. Often there is a motley crew on the journey with the main character, each with their own compelling story. There is also often a wise man or woman, perhaps even with magic who aids the character as they find their own power.

This is the story of The Wizard Of Oz with all the formula intact. First there is getting lost, as a stranger in a strange land. Dorothy meets the wicked witch, and is aided by the good witch. She has a crew of companions. Gradually she defeats the all powerful witch, finds she can get back to where she wants to go, simply by saying with power and intention. “There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home.” Three times, just as the Buddha did when expressing his message.

We are all on this journey, and in each of our lives we are attempting to find our power and return home, that place of authenticity. We are faced with rot and corruption in modern society and a sort of species wide mental illness that makes fear and anger so very attractive. We are all hurting, either by what is happening in our own lives or to people close to us.

Each of us is the lead character. We will find our way by not forgetting who we really are, and the magic that makes us each unique. Genius flow through us and not from us. In learning to be magnanimous we learn we are magnificent. In the world but not of it. There’s no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home… The Heart.
