Conspiracy Theories

There are some people who no matter what see things in their favor. If there is a situation in which they have to give you change for something that has been bought they will often make a mistake, but somehow consistently with them getting more than they were supposed to receive. If there is a conflict or a crime they immediately assume that who they identify with is the aggrieved party.

This seems to be true of those who are into conspiracy theories. They often search the internet for wild theories that they are sure are true. I am not saying that there have not been elaborate plots that have pulled the wool over the eyes of the public. However it seems strange that the theories that people believe to be true also consistently go along with their political, racial or spiritual beliefs. Never does a person who always wants to tell you about their beliefs promote a conspiracy theory that makes their side look bad.

Do not get me wrong, I have a few such beliefs myself. When I see how the rules have been bent (broken) in the last few years, when I see how things have been rigged to pack the court system, I feel a sense of justice offended. One would have to be naive to not feel that corruption has reached a new high in terms of the rupture of integrity in  our society.

However I personally do not feel that we will get to a world of respect through a dedication to conspiracy theories. I am not saying that those who clearly break the law should not be held responsible. The blatant power grabs in our government is the worst in my lifetime. At the same time I feel we should be careful of our addiction to believing in conspiracies. In fact, I have a new conspiracy theory: the people who believe in them most want the conspiracies to be true. In fact I feel the more dedicated one is to live in the swamp of these beliefs, the more they will warp the truth to fit their desire for separateness and judgement.

I will be as active as I can to help set limits on this cancerous self centeredness we see today. At the same time I will focus on the world I want to live in, rather than the world that I feel offended by. The conspiracy theories I am most interested in interrupting are the conspiracies I myself focus on. You will find what you seek, and I am looking for a world of mutual respect.
