As Below, So Above
There are many elements from ancient teachers that we begin to find in science that bear our experience born out through practice. We are taught in modern physics that the observer changes that which is observed. We discover elements like fractals which bear out the statement “as above so below,” in which we find similar expressions of reality at all levels. The swirl of galaxies find themselves in the swirl of water down the drain. We find just as in a hologram, that everything is a symbol of everything else.
This supports us in the knowledge that when we truly master one discipline we can use it as a template for getting things down in completely different areas. Whether it be chess, backgammon or football the lessons learned can be applied throughout life. The life lessons learned in a relatively minor area apply to life as a whole.
This means that as we master a minor discipline it creates change in a major way. We all have long standing issues. Perhaps we describe ourselves as anxious, or depressed or an irritable person. All three of these states are related. If we can master our relationship to our emotions the world will take care of itself. Fear of being afraid is at the heart of our division.
In changing long standing issues we create the alchemy of change of the whole. Like picking lint off a dryer screen it may not seem that we make results, but patience is key. Infinite patience brings about immediate results. In this time of judgement and conflict we must realize that if we want it to change we must change.
We can do this. We must recognize that all that lives seek to continue. Even a sense of hatred of life carries with it a strong sense of separate self. Even the ending of our own lives, or the wish for destruction of society is an investment in separateness, otherwise known as the ego.
We are one, but in order to be aware of that we must find the truth of an inner oneness. We cannot live in a world of kindness without an inner experience of compassion. If we lose kindness we lose what makes us human. As we choose to solve long standing issues in our own lives, and as we are willing to surrender what has always held us back we find a path to a better future for all of us. One drop of food coloring can change a swirl into a solid shade of color. If we are willing to change what is holding us back we create the change we want to see in the world, As below, so above.
