Do Not Miss This Opportunity!

Viktor Frankl in Man’s Search wondered why some were so resilient in the concentration camps, and others just seem to lose their will to live.  If they felt it was futile with no meaning, they would lose the will and not go on. In every crisis there is hidden benefit equal in it’s subtlety as the situation is gross and bludgeoning in the application. If we do not have the commitment to live from our true values we lose the opportunity to truly be human. Those who suffer, even if they do look different, are part of us.

To step up and commit to what you value is a huge opportunity. To know that you truly stand for; kindness and compassion. Not that you may not have moments of anger, but we can reboot, starting over and moving toward The Beloved, the true and authentic self.

We live the way we die, and die the way we live. Hatred and self righteousness are a hell of cocktail, and things can change substantially. If this were the very last moment on this planet, would really want to die a slave to hate?

The opportunity is to use death as an advisor, to really get clear on who you are and what you stand for. This is the time to show up, Realizing the power of death gives us the power to really live. Knowing that this life is over in a blink of an eye, take on the challenge of this time, committed to living in a world of kindness. Feel the gift of grace found in compassion. Notice the experience of positive indifference, and know you will do your best. Perhaps the opportunity is to let death remind you to be your own best self, and to die in peace.

This morning I talked about the power that Easter can hold for us all. The profundity of a new and mystical life after death. As a metaphor we can use it to challenge ourselves to live up to our highest ideal.Things have changed in the world. We can not wait for some wise leader. We must lead. The new life that comes is just that, new. The old rules don't apply. If we attempt to force our way we create an equal and opposite reaction, and then we live in a world of vengeance. We will miss the opportunity to live a life of meaning, of service, and the opportunity of enjoying death after a well lived life. What an opportunity!
