Perception VS Reality
Part of firewalling your consciousness is realizing the difference between perception and reality. I actually was going to change the title because nothing can oppose reality, reality banishes falsehood like light banishes dark. However in this case I feel it is useful to keep the “VS” because that is in a sense what many of us are working to do. We see people wanting to have their perceptions validated as truth..
I am dedicated to understanding how to be in contact with intuition, and be sensitive to subtlety. Many if not most of us are trapped in our particular bias that we simply cannot judge things even close to fairly. That is all of us, of course some more than others. People who are most convinced of their lack of bias tend to be the most biased. If you can not admit you could be wrong, you are most likely not right.
Irrational people feel they are right. A large group of irrational people is a mob. The mob is convinced they are right, but having a large number of people carrying sticks and stones does make right. The mob is a large group told their anger is appropriate. This is where you and I come in. The mob mentality when distilled down to a single human being is a person who can not admit they can be wrong, and can not admit to themselves that reality is more important than how they want things to be. We can shift that by having strong beliefs while having an openness that listens to others. Not just wait to speak, but to listen.
All we can ever grasp is opinion. Knowing this gives others the respect that they can have opinions of their own. You become more persuasive because you are open to being persuaded. Others are much more likely to listen when they know they are heard. We are less likely to go into conspiracy thinking. Untruths are brittle. We simply do not know all we claim to know, and do not want to admit to ourselves. We become forceful if questioned, offended that we have been doubted.. Wounded humans are going to wound humans. If we realize the power, and the limits of perception we can find a bridge in this time of crisis.
