The Space In Between The Notes
The great Miles Davis was a musician that only other true human genius’ can approach. In the midst of his music at times his consciousness soared and reached levels of the sublime. His going there is a bridge for us all. We can listen to the music of his classic late 50’s era and it is clear that we are experiencing something holy. It does not mean that he was able to maintain this level of excellence throughout his life, but is able to lead us there beyond his actual spiritual attainment.
This can happen for any of us if we truly embody the life of a spiritual warrior. A spiritual warrior works to improve in every area of life and uses all that happens as the path. They make mistakes but learn from them. They know that all that happens in their life brings them along, and the power they exhibit comes from the oath they are uncovering.
It is the commitment to look for the sky beyond the clouds, no matter what.
Miles said that the key to music is the space between the notes. If there is no space between notes we are left with chaos. Some suggest that chaos is good because it creates change. Chaos creates chaos, more discordant notes until the sound is unbearable.
Each of us has the ability to sing into the great echo chamber that is this universe. Uni verse. The one song. What will you sing? A song that has space, and is not blocked? This is our choice. The choice is now. Look around. Hear the subtle. Breathe in and make the “ah” sound. Do not wait. Right now. Open or closed? Listening or insisting? Peace or war? Love or hate? I choose the space in between this and that, the space between the notes.
