When Kindness Is Radical

If there are two men caught in a life and death struggle in the street it may seem that they are in a fight against each other, but it is not as obvious as it appears. Even if one seriously damages or even kills the other they may well have the same perception of reality; us vs them.

As I look at how people from all over the world I see an amazing wave across the globe. It is this intense tribalism, so great that it would rather see the world burn than to see it heal. It may seem to be in opposition, white vs black, Islam vs the west, Russia vs America, but it is really a lot of humans having the same operating principle; attack the other by any means necessary.

All over the world there are those willing to destroy any who do not not see the world as they do. It can be over religion Sometimes they are people who are angry with some who have left the religion, and those that have left who are angry with those that stayed.

It is my perception that we must offer an alternative. Setting limits, even demanding legal action, but never demonization. Not because some acts are not deserving, but simply because humans have shown a strong tendency to become versions of what they hate. We need to have a strong commitment to a different path. Kindness is all important. It may be radical but it will make all the difference.
