Day 2 - What You Focus On Grows
When you shoot a basketball it is important to keep your eye on the basket. This is true of any athletic endeavor from golf to bowling. Keep your eyes on the prize and you will find it drawing toward you. This is the essence of manifestation practice. What we keep our focus on, when we say things with intensity we create our reality.
This ability to focus and manifest is one of the great powers of humanity. We are the only species who seems to have this skill. Creating a clear vision, with specific written plans and focusing on it regularly activates the miracle power of manifestation. All great human endeavors come from a similar process. Against all odds a human being can utilize this to achieve greatness beyond what is anticipated.
Our imagination combined with emotion is key. With imagination backed with the intensity of emotion we can change the world. We manifest what we focus on. I have told the story many times of how I was first learning to ride a bike with a mailbox nearby. I could not keep my eyes off of it, and as I did, it appeared to be moving toward me. Of course I was actually moving toward it.
I feel we must have the courage to keep our focus on values that make us more authentically who we really are. Kindness, compassion, joy and positive indifference are the golden road. Kindness in how we treat others as well as ourselves. Compassion is knowing how easy it is to go so very wrong in this world. Joy in being truly authentic and working to fulfill the positive mission you were born for. Positive indifference in your commitment to saying yes to living and loving this life no matter what.
Use this 40 day practice to build the muscle of your focus. Build it both gradually during this time along with the power to resist the incredible seduction of finding more to be upset about. Lord knows we all have enough, but we will not build this world by focusing on how bad it feels. We have to have the commitment to be, as Gandhi said, the change we want to see in the world. What you focus on grows.
