Day 38 -A Resilient Flame

I am often speaking to people, both clients and in the course of a common day who seem to have all but given up hope. They are looking at what seems to be endless evidence of division, hatred and a rupture of the fabric of our society. I understand these feelings, and share much of of them. I share those feelings, and I also know we can make it through this time.

Every great champion meets events in the course of their life and career that appear that they will not make it through. Each of us is descendant of great champions. It is the reason we are all here. There is an unbroken line from the beginning of human time that follows itself throughout each and every one of us. We are descendants of saints and sinners, but they are a lineage of champions.

This life is not futile. There is a deeper underlying reality, a superstructure so real that we exist as its shadow. The shadow is not the source of power. That which casts the shadow is the figure to draw attention to. 

It is not a thought or a concept, but deeper, a knowing. It is a yearning to move toward something more real, more pure. We are at the level of what appears to be exponential growth of recrimination, but we can be the change we wish to see but making the decision that no matter what we stand for kindness, for compassion, for joy and for positive indifference.

This committed stance connects us to inner light, the light that illuminates the universe. It is  not shining from outside in, but from inside out. There is something deep inside you that is more powerful than appearance, more real than resistance. It is a unity of the heart that loves you and this life. 

Do not fear what might happen. You are truly not at risk. Your authenticity is what is real, and it  is not in danger. Obi Wan said, “You can’t win Vader. If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can imagine.” It is the story of power vs force. Those that would use force become more convinced that force will win. Living the life of a vow means not changing your North Star. Decide right now that you are committed to peace, and let that commitment be your guide. 

There is a flame that burns inside you. It is an authenticity that cannot be blown out. Get present and deal with the singular challenge of this very moment. The future will take care of itself. Just keep your flame burning right now. We will be alright. We will pull through.
