Day 39! Humility Is The Realization That You Need To Let Something Go

Perception becomes brittle when it is held as reality. Then people become invested in codifying their beliefs, and aggressive toward those who may not share them. We worship what we see as ultimate reality, and because we see ourselves as special we worship our own opinion. On some level we can fear what is really true if it will infringe on what we feel is true.

It iis a form of worship that is not responsive to reality. In fact it can become antagonistic to the truth, hiding details from the public that do not fit the prescribed story. It is an attempt to warp the truth to fit the preconceived conclusion. It creates people completely immune from the truth. It reminds me of a politician who said that it does not matter what is true, only what people feel is true.

We must be willing to accept  that it is impossible for us to own the complex and unadulterated truth. We are always wrong about something, even if it is in thinking we can make things better through anger and judgement. People assume that they are right to be angry, but what if that were not true? What if all  of the judgement was making us worse rather than better?

Humility is realizing that you can be wrong even in some area you feel most right. Change your relationship to your perception. Commit more fully to it by being willing to truly be open to what is true even when it proves you wrong. Perception truly tested is truly earned. Humility is more powerful than force.
