Day 35 - I Will Not Entertain Negative Thoughts

Imagine you are on a plane in the in The United States in the middle of the country, say in Minneapolis, on your way to Los Angeles.  In the process of leaving you begin to talk to people on either side. Everyone tells you they are going to New York. This is a sign. You are on the wrong plane.

I have told the story many times before. I probably told it to you. It is the story I tell to highlight the importance of being with the right people. If you are with people who are going somewhere you do not want to go, you best find another group to hang with.

I choose to be with people who inspire me, and that I hopefully may be part of inspiring as well. I also choose to steep myself in the genius’ of many different fields, listening to interviews, reading about their lives. Even fictional characters can teach us how we want to be.

However as Napoleon Hill said, thoughts are things, and combined with intense emotions they become powerful manifestation practices. We do not just want to be sure we are traveling with the right people, but also the thoughts and emotions that are going to get us to where we want to go.

The Buddha said you cannot wash away blood with blood, and you will not do away with any sort of intolerance by becoming more intolerant. You cannot not deal with irrational people by becoming more irrational and you cannot out hate those that hate.

We will not connect with genius by feeding our addiction to anger and judgement. Shame, guilt and judgement have gotten us this far. Let’s try something else. I will not entertain negative thoughts. Every time one pops in your mind, use this speed bump. Say it three times with intensity. You will support the world in becoming a better place.
