We Are All Connected

We as human beings are all connected. There is something that passes between us that is deeper than words. It is like a tool that makes us more powerful together than we are separate. We can create amazing works like the pyramids, and the many elements that make up an organized society.

Like a hammer, this element of connection can do great good, but like a hammer this connection can be used for highly destructive ends. This connection can also move in mob violence, hatred and war.

When we act as the collective in these destructive ways we are no longer individuals, but a mindless mass entity that moves on the intensity of negative emotions like fear and hate. This desire to destroy becomes stronger than the desire for self preservation. It is one of the reasons why we must be careful about stimulating hatred in humanity. We can unleash a raging fire that burns out of control. Once this berserker self destructive rage is initiated it does not cool until it burns itself out.

This is the danger we face during this time. Fortunately this energy is not created in a vacuum. This subterranean connection is not just an avenue for human self destructiveness, but human beauty as well. There is something good and beautiful about us. Something that connects across every human society and culture. There is something in us that recognizes each other, and there are those in every group who want to make peace. They are what Christ described as the meek, but there is a great courage found amongst those who want peace.

There Is a term Buddhism And Hinduism called the Sangha. The Sangha is the spiritual community. It is the companionship that people find in groups like AA and various religious communities. Not everyone in your church, temple or mosque is in your spiritual community. You may find someone from a different religion or spiritual community or race who is in your Sangha.

You can draw strength from these people and they can draw strength from you. You and I are in each other's Sangha if you feel some resonance with these words. We can draw strength from each other. As I meet my challenges and vulnerabilities you can draw strength, wisdom and inspiration from me. As you meet your own challenges I can draw the same from you.

We are more powerful than we seem, and the meek shall inherit the earth.
