Stay Right Where You Are
In this most difficult time please remember to stay right where you are. As anxiety builds some part of us begins to pace back and forth like a jungle cat locked in a cage. We build our tension and suffering with each fevered movement. Slow down. Slow down your breath and widen your awareness. Go for a long walk if possible but do not allow yourself to pace with nervous energy.
Keep your eyes steady. Breathe slowly. Bring your awareness into your lower abdomen an inch below your navel and a half an inch in. Loosen up your neck, and stretch through the pectorals. Do the Serenity Of The Senses going through each of the senses. Keep it simple,
Pay attention to your speech and do not exaggerate. Stay hydrated and be ready to break up the rhythm of negative thoughts and impulses. Take a hot bath and listen to soothing music. Do not lose yourself in what happened, or what will happen. Stay here right where you are.
Let your body help to ground you. Take walks and pay attention to beauty. Do not allow yourself to become haunted by the possibility. Of what might happen, or the shame projected on you about the past. Stay right here. You will make it through. Just be sure to stay where you are. Do not get lost in the labyrinth.
Some part of us wants to feel the intensity, even if it is intensely bad. Not knowing what to do it is easy to focus on what we fear. It is also easy to become the object of a person who is living as an energy vampire. Energy vampires stimulate drama to draw on the dark high of negative energy, and the charge of being able to stand in judgement of someone else.
After the worst, stay right where you are. Do not make major decisions if possible. Be wary of powerful emotions. Slow down. Write down your resources. You will get through this time. See everything. You are bigger than this, no matter how big this is. Stay here. You got this.
